How To Eat Your Ugly Frog

By James Howard

Make sure to read my last post ” I’m Eating My Ugly Frog Have You Tasted Yours Yet?
before you jump into this post otherwise you will be wondering what I am talking about.

You up to speed now?

Great, this post came about after I had one of my subscribers, who quite rightly was sick
off people saying the same old thing to try and gain his trust. In fact his words were -

“I know that your job is to gain my trust”

He wanted to have a rant and I guess my email address was as good as any, and since I
send a welcome email that lets them know they are more than just a number and give
them a personal email address he felt he could have a vent at me.

Don’t get me wrong he was not having a go at me personally just internet marketers in
general but he did ask a question that I felt deserved a response from me.
(I also told him it would be my next blog post so thanks for getting in touch.)

Here’s a little of what he said

“I was reading your blog about “eating the ugly frog first”
(love that title by the way!) But what if you do not know how to eat the frog in the first
place?

I mean how to you make your own report, and make it a really good one. I am not a great
writer, and my grammar skills are poor at best. And worse I do not even know how to
situate it all.

I know about buying plr articles and so forth, but I have no clue how to put the report
together, its very confusing to me.

Oh well,
just felt like venting.”

So all fair enough I say. Others might get emails like this and think ah well another
complainer and delete it, but I saw this as a cry for help.

This is someone who like most needs to be shown the way and I guess it’s easy to
forget how hard it is to get started and how easy it is to buy into all the hype and
all the get rich quick schemes out there.

So my reply below was longer than I expected to write to him.

“I can understand where you are coming from when you
say you no longer buy it, we have all been at that
point but it is because of that reason that I do
want to help people.

Everyone is getting sick of hearing the same thing
over and over, the thing that changed for me was
thinking about the emails I always open without fail.

The reason I open them is not because of a good catchy
subject line or anything like that, the reason is down
to the name of the sender. The emails I open every time
they send are from the people that have helped me and
I want to be one of the people that gets their emails
opened every time by helping out others.

Anyway back to the frog :-)

My grammar sucks big time and I think the thing I use
the most is spell check. The way I am going to get
around this is to give it to someone else to check out
first.

The first things you need to start with is a pen an
some paper.

Note down all the things you could write a report about,
once you have chosen your subject you need to think about
what exactly you want to tell them and work from the end
result backwards by thinking how you are going to break it down.

Use every different part of what you want to tell them as
chapters. Instead of thinking of the whole report you now
have nice easy chunks to work on.

For instance, you say you know about buying plr article.

How about a report about

“Product Creation Made Easy”

Introduction – Tell them how easy it is to create a product.
Chapter 1 – about using plr article to create a product.
Chapter 2 – Where they can find plr articles.
chapter 3 – Putting it all together(just a case of using the right
article in order so it runs smoothly).
chapter 4 – review of what you have just told them.
Resources – The sites they can get the plr from.

Once you have it down like this do a bit of research if you need to

It’s not about getting it perfect, it’s about getting it done
once you have done it once it will get easier.(so I am told)
It does not have to be the greatest or longest report in the world.

As I said, This is my ugly frog so it’s not easy for me to
do. If it was easy everyone would do it.

But just by the fact that you sent me an email asking about
it means that you are already a few steps ahead of the people
that say I can’t do that, It’s that attitude of finding a way
to do it rather than just avoiding it that will get to where
you want to be.

Bit longer than I expected to write there but might have my
next blog post from this.

Vent away anytime you like Joe if you want any help or want
to run some ideas past me my Skype is james.howard11

How’s that for going the extra mile and wanting to help.

Thanks for the comments about my blog, I just try to be me
be sure to leave a comment next time you visit though eh.

All the best and get in touch when you need to, or if you just
feel like venting.

James”

He has been back in touch to thank me and I have sent another email
so see if I could help him further. As I know I could have gone into a bit more
detail but I wanted to get the basics across.

Tell me, How do YOU deal with emails like that?

Do you reply or dismiss?
And yes I know my skype is still in there but we are here to help, just bare
in mind I am but one man.

Hey James,

I believe you gave the best reposnse you possibly could! To be honest, most peoples responses are out of sheer frustration, and I know, I’ve been there and still do from time to time.

Responding in the first place is the key, ignoring it only makes it worse. Offering help is a big plus, and why not, it adds value to you and your business.

Hi James,

You did the right thing. That is evidenced by the fact your enquirer got back to you again.

If you have a blog you are saying to the World,”here I am ,can I help?”.

It is a business like any other. If you dont deal with the uncomfortable side of business you are unlikely to grow.Respect has to be earned not given.

Respect is being earned every day.Just look at your list size. That is the true size of your contribution to your subscribers.

Help in this World is rarely given.Useful help…well thats even rarer.

You should have no doubts of your ability.Your respect grows by the day.

Regards Ray

Hey Guys,

Thanks for that,

@ Sean I have offered to help him even more and see if I can set him on the right track.

@ Ray You should know I do what I can to help others :-)
and you are right when you say “Respect has to be earned not given.”

I will be over your site soon been a bit slack and tied up with other things.

Did you get your header problem sorted yet??

Talk soon,

James

Hi James,

It’s good to know that there is a real caring person behind your blog and not just a maniacal over-stressed time-challenged blogger :-)

My questions to you and others is:

1) “how many blogs do you have?”
2) “how many blogs should we have for better results?”
3) “Should all our blogs be in the one niche?”

Regards to all,
Jan

5

Hey Jan,

Thanks, and to be honest that is one of the reasons you should have a blog.

To prove to people that there is a human at the other side of the screen and not someone that has no care.

1) I have had a few in all sorts of niche markets, one that counts to me now is this one. 1 other is an auto blog so articles are posted on it daily and I set a product review blog up last month but that is the first time I have done that. The rest I have not used in months if not years.

2) For best results, one to start with. If you can manage to drive traffic, leave coments on other sites to get comments back and reply to all the comments you get on more than one blog then by all means do it, but you will find life can get in the way so I would stick with one and then you can make it the best you can. This blog is a little of where I am heading and how I get there and I couldn’t do that with two blogs.

3)For reasons above one blog for one niche at one time. When you have mastered that blog and it gains all the traffic you need to give it a life of it’s own and more comments then you could reply to, rinse and repeat in another niche. There is no point trying to do two in the same niche unless they are in different areas that you could link them together. But yet again if you are just starting it’s best to put all your efforts into one.

Never spread yourself too thin otherwise you will end up overstressed.

That’s just my thoughts mind but hope it helps,

James

Hey James,

Ta! Yes, it helps. This is one of the biggest hazards I’m finding is how many is too many.

You mention auto blogs. I take it that you aren’t meaning blogs in the automotive field? But rather blogs that are in a system where other people’s articles get added to your blog if that article is in your niche like in the Free Traffic System? If this is is so, are you finding that the FTS works?

Cheers

Hey Jan,

Yes it’s a blog that gets other peoples articles posted onto it.

I have done no work to in in a long while but I have made a couple of sale with it without touching it so I can see that with a little work it is a method that really can work, but it was in my faze of try something then move on and try something else while I was still serching for the magic button.

I might rework it some day so it makes a bit of income.

Who knows, but it is not in my plans at this time.

Thanks again,

James

Hey James,

Great post, I always reply to my subscribers when they email me, unless their email to me is just full of abuse that is, can’t say I’ve really had one of those yet though.

Emails like the one you’ve shown above are easy to reply to, because as you say he was crying out for someone to help him, and those are the emails I love to receive.

I look forward to your report.
