Alex Jeffreys Coaching Program
By James HowardIf you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
So I have finally got myself a mentor, Alex Jeffreys.
If you don’t know who Alex is then just Google his name there is plenty of results about him. All good I might add
Now I would just like to put down the date 9/12/2009 or for those overseas 12/09/2009.
Now the reason for putting the date down is simple. In the future when I look back on that date I will know that is the date when my life took a turn for the better, and where my success started from.
Big words you might say and I, would have to agree with you but the thing is that I was lucky enough to win Alex’s blog competition and get a free place in his coaching program.
This means two thing.
1. I now have a great mentor that has been there and done it and also many of his previous students have quit there jobs for a life of successful internet marketing. A mentor that unlike many others is still in touch with people like you and me he knows where he started at and he knows what it is like to struggle.
2. For me winning a place means that I have to do it to prove that he chose well, if I had paid for his coaching and I did not succeed then I would only be letting myself down. But the fact that he chose me means that I would be letting him down also and that is not something I am prepared to do.
So keep an eye out for me as 2010 is going to be my time to shine ( I have already told one of his most successful students, Dean Holland to get outta my way and stand aside on Skype as it’s my time now)
Anyway what I have already learnt is that.
I need to set goals, the reason for setting myself a goal is so simple yet I never thought like this. Without a goal I cannot create a plan to reach that goal and without a plan I am doomed to fail. I have been dithering around for so long just doing this and that and trying my best to get by. But I have already set some goals in fact three types of plans with different goals. Business, Entrepreneur and Personal.
You see now I have my end goal in site I just need to plan backwards from there to reach that target, sounds strange but the way Alex laid it out it all makes sense.
Personal goals. This is up to you, what is it that you want? for me the first thing I put down was a family holiday to Florida. My old man lives out there and with a family of three to fly that’s going to be a bit expensive, make the next trip to Vegas (if Alex does do another one), new TV for the playroom, a new laptop and a new car as I’m sure the family car is going to fall apart soon. Now I have these goals in site I have something to aim for and that will make me work much harder for them.
Business goals. Find out what you want online. What niche are you going for? I know there are a lot to choose from but find your angle and stick to it. there is no point in building a list of people interested in building a business on eBay if you are going to market Adwords courses to them. Now I can’t help you with choosing your niche you will find out for yourself what you feel more passionate about and when you find it, stick with it. create a blog like this perhaps or a membership site.
Entrepreneur goals. For me these are goals of skills I need to learn to make my business and therefore my personal goals happen. Things like copywriting and making better video’s (hell did you see the video in my last post, I think I need to learn that first)
Now at the moment I have these plans on paper but there is a great mind mapping tool at http://www.mindmeister.com/ that I am going to be trying out.
Anyway enough of my ramblings, if you don’t have a plan take some time out to start one now.
It does not have to be the grand master plan as these plans can and probably will change, you never know what is around the corner but by making a plan you can be half way to guessing.
Thanks for reading and please let me know what you thought of this and leave a comment.

Hi James,
Just thought I’d drop by after seeing you mentioned the blog update in the MWA forum.
I am really pleased for you that you won a place on Alex’s coaching and I know he made the decision in choosing you.
James, you remind me a LOT of Marcus Passey (who, funnily enough, also won a free spot on Alex’s coaching back in the summer) in that you are a “doer”, even if you may not have always known what you were doing!
I have watched you over the last few months giving this a real good go and I believe you when you say it is now your time to shine! With Alex’s coaching you will now have the proper direction which you may not have had before and can put that to good use with what you have achieved so far.
I forsee great things for you in 2010 because I know you will take action and move your business forward. Also, I look forward to meeting you in person some time next year as well as I am sure our paths will cross!
Speak soon.

Hey David,
All I can think of saying is WOW.
Thank you.
Marcus is a great guy and one I don’t mind being compared to, if I do half as well as he has in such a short time I will be very happy.(Don’t get a big head Marcus)
It’s funny in a way as I first started Tweeting with Marcus just the week before he won his place and although I have not met him I have seen the change in him and see what this course has done for him and what it can and will do for me.
Anything is possible if you put into action what you learn. With as you say the proper direction, I have been missing all this time.
I certainly hope our paths will cross at an event or two.
Cheers,
James

Hey James,
I’ve already said this in private, but congratulations for winning a place on the coaching… I’m proud to now be able to call you a true fellow student (I used already classed James as a an AJ student, because of how well he has done on his own
)
I actually read your reply the day after you wrote it, and I had a feeling you would win a place. Because even if I didn’t know you and read what you wrote, I would have chosen that reply as I winner if it was up to me… I think anyone would of.
Maybe you should include a quote of your winning reply in this post, or maybe in your next post as this is already quite long… It would be good to have it here for reference, and for your future visitors who want to look back at the steps taken on your rise to the top.
To your continued success… And mine

Hey Paul,
Cheers mate, I think that is a great idea to include the reply I put on Mr Alex Jeffreys blog. I will have to work that in.
I would also like to say thanks for the Alexa Rank Challenge
Although we didn’t really set up to do that I think setting the goal to try and catch up on your Alexa page rank is what kept this blog going for a while as it made me take action everyday and got my name out there a bit more for all to see. That is what is needed in this business ACTION.
All the best mate speak soon,
James

Hello James
First I want to say congratulations on winning a spot in AJ’s coaching. It’s great to have more do’ers around!
Secondly I want to thank you for your kind feedback on my notes, I had to sort them out and try to remember the essence of what AJ taught and I’m glad you found it good.
I really hope to get to know you better and I’ve told myself too that 2010 is My Year so let’s work together on achieving 2010 for us
Warm Wishes always

Hi Shaleniie,
I was going to do a post with notes on the call but after seeing your they put mine to shame.
I think I will have to do a post with a link to your page instead
I have seen you in the forum and can tell that you are also one for taking action so I am sure we will both do very well in 2010.
I will be keeping an eye on you.
To our success,
James

James,
Winning a coaching spot with Alex Jeffreys is quite an achievement. Planning is my weakest area, and your post reminds me that I need to go back and review the very first part of the course.
December 17th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Hey Evan,
Planning has always been my downfall in the past.
I just could never get it started. staring at a blank page wondering what to put first.
All that has changed already so all is going well,
James

Hi James,
Great post!
While I’ve been Internet marketing and doing web design since 1997 with decent success, the majority of the time I’ve had to work a “JOB” that I don’t enjoy. The pay and benfits are good but the work is boring, mindless, and hard on the body (I build minivans for Chrysler).
I spent many years learning so much when it comes to Internet marketing yet have only implemented a fraction of it. You see, I spend most of my time jumping from training system to training system but not implementing.
Recently, I have learned to take the time to set goals (even if its a daily to do list) and FOCUS (follow one course until successful). What that basically means is stop jumping from strategy to strategy, focus on one, and take action. This is working wonders and I believe is the key to one day quitting my day job. So my advice to anyone who wants to make it is to F.O.C.U.S.
All the best to everyone

Hey Eric,
I think you said it all there.
“(follow one course until successful)”
Stop jumping from one program to another get yourself focused and most importantly build your list.
Thanks for the visit,
James

Hi James,
Great Post. My planning was really half arsed before I joined Alex’s coaching program. I would scribble a vague plan down on a bit of paper and set it to one side. Now I have plans for my plans and all I have to worry about is making sure I stick to them.
All the best for your success,
Matt

Hey Matt,
I know that feeling, I used to write out a plan on a bit of paper then end up finding it folded up in my coat pocket or in a draw a few weeks later.
Keep on to of being on top.
I think that might just be my next post.
Cheers,
James

Hi James,
Congratulations on winning your spot in the coaching.
Being mentored is an excellent thing. It helps keep you motivated and focused. No one is successful on their own. If you look back in time every successful person was mentored by someone.
Good Luck with it all!
Jacinta
December 21st, 2009 at 11:52 am
Hi Jacinta,
Thanks, I would have to agree, I didn’t know what I was missing out on before I got a mentor.
It’s great to have someone that has been there and done it teach you, I am amazed at how long I went online without a mentor.
It’s no wonder why so many people fail online. In Alex Jeffreys I have found someone that is not only a good teacher (that is proven by his previous students results) but also someone who has not lost touch with the people starting up.
Alex remembers what it is like unlike a lot of people out there who have forgotten and are out of touch.

Hey James.
Thanks for the help you’ve been giving me. Not only on here but also in the MWA forum and on Skype.
Cheers and I hope 2010 will be your year to become everything you want to be.
I think people who help others selflessly deserve to be winners.

Hey Sean,
No problem at all, I finally found that helping others is what it is all about. If I can help even one person along the way then it’s all worth it.
Hope you have a great year also, and if you need any more help let me know.
All the best,
James
