before you jump into this post otherwise you will be wondering what I am talking about.

Great, this post came about after I had one of my subscribers, who quite rightly was sick
off people saying the same old thing to try and gain his trust. In fact his words were -

“I know that your job is to gain my trust”

He wanted to have a rant and I guess my email address was as good as any, and since I
send a welcome email that lets them know they are more than just a number and give
them a personal email address he felt he could have a vent at me.

Don’t get me wrong he was not having a go at me personally just internet marketers in
general but he did ask a question that I felt deserved a response from me.
(I also told him it would be my next blog post so thanks for getting in touch.)

Here’s a little of what he said

“I was reading your blog about “eating the ugly frog first”
(love that title by the way!) But what if you do not know how to eat the frog in the first
place?

I mean how to you make your own report,and make it a really good one. I am not a great
writer, and my grammar skills are poor at best. And worse I do not even know how to
situate it all.

I know about buying plr articles and so forth, but I have no clue how to put the report
together, its very confusing to me.

Oh well,
just felt like venting.”

So all fair enough I say. Others might get emails like this and think ah well another
complainer and delete it, but I saw this as a cry for help.

This is someone who like most needs to be shown the way and I guess it’s easy to
forget how hard it is to get started and how easy it is to buy into all the hype and
all the get rich quick schemes out there.

So my reply below was longer than I expected to write to him.

“I can understand where you are coming from when you
say you no longer buy it, we have all been at that
point but it is because of that reason that I do
want to help people.

Everyone is getting sick of hearing the same thing
over and over, the thing that changed for me was
thinking about the emails I always open without fail.

The reason I open them is not because of a good catchy
subject line or anything like that, the reason is down
to the name of the sender. The emails I open every time
they send are from the people that have helped me and
I want to be one of the people that gets their emails
opened every time by helping out others.

Anyway back to the frog

My grammar sucks big time and I think the thing I use
the most is spell check. The way I am going to get
around this is to give it to someone else to check out
first.

The first things you need to start with is a pen an
some paper.

Note down all the things you could write a report about,
once you have chosen your subject you need to think about
what exactly you want to tell them and work from the end
result backwards by thinking how you are going to break it down.

Use every different part of what you want to tell them as
chapters. Instead of thinking of the whole report you now
have nice easy chunks to work on.

For instance, you say you know about buying plr article.

How about a report about

“Product Creation Made Easy”

Introduction – Tell them how easy it is to create a product.
Chapter 1 – about using plr article to create a product.
Chapter 2 – Where they can find plr articles.
chapter 3 – Putting it all together(just a case of using the right
article in order so it runs smoothly).
chapter 4 – review of what you have just told them.
Resources – The sites they can get the plr from.

Once you have it down like this do a bit of research if you need to

It’s not about getting it perfect, it’s about getting it done
once you have done it once it will get easier.(so I am told)
It does not have to be the greatest or longest report in the world.

As I said, This is my ugly frog so it’s not easy for me to
do. If it was easy everyone would do it.

But just by the fact that you sent me an email asking about
it means that you are already a few steps ahead of the people
that say I can’t do that, It’s that attitude of finding a way
to do it rather than just avoiding it that will get to where
you want to be.

detail but I wanted to get the basics across.

So I have taken a bite of the ugly frog and you know what,  it doesn’t taste that bad.

Before you think I have gone mad I suppose I should explain that.

Last night I re-read Gurus Dream, this is a free ebook from my mentor Alex Jeffreys if
you have not read it yet I suggest you do, in it Alex talks about an old saying that
his mentor would say to him that is.

“If you have to eat a box of frogs, what do you do?”
The answers is – “Eat the ugly frog first”.

Now to me I am looking at the box of frogs as my list of things I need to do and the
ugliest frog is creating my own report.

The reason for taking the ugly one out first is that after that the rest will go down easy.

I took a bite out of the ugly frog late last night right after going over the Gurus Dream
Report and already with the weight of getting started of it lifted I see the path ahead.
I have already got the idea for two new reports from just writing the first page.

Amazing what you can do if you get rid of all the excuses and get going, after all what
is stopping you from doing the same?

What reason excuse do you keep giving yourself to not get started on that one
thing that might be holding you back?

As in my case just get started, if it’s a new report it can always be edited, if it’s doing
a video you can always delete and record again.

The only thing stopping YOU is YOU.

I have finally found a system that makes me money online, and you know what?

You have been told over and over to do the same thing but if you are not making any decent amount of money then I guess you ignored everyone that has ever told you about it.

What is this system?

Listbuilding of course. Tell me, how many times have you benn told the money is in the list hey? No need to answer that lets just say lots. But if you were like me then you just thought yea ok I will get round to it but first I need to waste some money on PPC trying to make a quick buck promoting the next big clickbank product.

The thing is though, it’s not just about building your list, even though I have just said the money is in the list, it is actually in the relationship you build with your list that counts.

Another But Coming Up.

But there is a way to create a nice steady reccuring income  that grows each month while you are still building your list. My list at the moment is only 1,400 I had 460 at the start of Dec and I know I could have a whole lot more if I had pushed it harder. Iwas in the prosess of writing an ebook of the sneaky little known methods that I use to create an income while listbuilding then along came Simon Cad with his report on the exact same subject.

I was talking to him on Skype when he told me of his upcoming product launch and I asked him what it was about, since I have known him a while now he let me have a copy to see what I thought and if I could give him some feedback be it good or bad.

My Feedback to him was “Don’t think I will bother with the  report I was going to do now.”

He ASKED “why not”

My reply “YOURS IS BETTER”

Damn that guy.

If you have a website or a blog that you post reviews on then this is for you. Here I obviously do reviews and so the new FTC rules will apply to me. The rules, under the Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, material connections to the products mentioned have to be disclosed.

The trouble for me has been in finding out what kind of disclosure I need to put.

Now the FTC Rules are a bit confusing, as in this case I am doing a review of a service that is free. So do I need to put up a disclosure notice or not??

I don’t know but I will anyway, I have found a great free service called CMP.ly and they hope to help to enable site owners have a standard for disclosure so that all the reviewers out there are not going to be giving mixed messages to their readers.  It hope to clear up things a little and to lets you understand a few of the FTC Rule in easy terms such as, if a review of a product that was received at no cost to review it a “paid” review?  Will you have to disclose the fact that you got a free copy to review it?

CMP.ly puts up some easy to understand rules, numbered 0-6, that give you those types of disclosures.  You can then just take the code they give you or you can copy the image with the info in it and paste that in your reviews.

So how’s the new year treating you?

Apart from a car crash and being snowed if for two weeks it’s going pretty well for me. Earning wise that is. Mentally, well if I have to stay in this house much longer I can see a bit of the shinning setting in. Can you believe we still have two inches of ice and snow all the way up our road.

Anyway just wanted to share with you a cool free signature tool that I came across a while ago. at the time I put it to use on a website and forgot about it. I just saw it in use and I realised it’s something that I could do with using again and I thought it might come in handy for you too.

Ok so the other day I signed up for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).

SIMPLE, Now I’m no fool even if I sometime act like one and I may not know everything, I still make a few mistakes now and then (I am only human or so I’m told) but simple is not a word I would use when trying to set it up.

Now this is taken from the site

So first off what the does rest and soap have to do with me uploading video to be stored, so I search through forums and find a lot of code I don’t understand then back to try and find the correct help section. I think that alone took 30 minutes.

I wanted to take some more info off it for the names of the things that I needed to download but I have just spent another 15 mins looking for it and can’t find it again. It’s so easy it is to use I can’t even find the right help section.

Anyway after getting to a point of pulling my hair out and crying at my computer that all I want to do is upload some videos to store I finally found the answer (after updating my .net and downloading and installing  AWSSDKForNET_1.0.3 whatever that is)

The answer after all that was found in a great free Firefox addon called Amazon S3 Firefox Organiser(S3Fox) this probably saved me a day or two and best of all it’s free. Amazing is all I can say and thank you. Two mins and I was set up ready to go.

While I’m on the subject of uploading video and Amazon S3, I can’t wait for a new product that is coming out on the 12th of this month it’s called Easy Video Player, This is going to make video easy for everyone to use (even me). You will even be able to embed buy now buttons & opt in forms right into your videos with this software. Video marketing is the way forward. I would do it a lot more but find it hard to work out the recording and editing then uploading.This is going to solve all that for me.

So the last post of the year and I though I best let you know what I have been up to.

Although it might seem to the untraind eye that I have not been up to much as I have not done a post for a while I have been keeping myself busy.

This month I have a made a potential earning of $350 reccuring.

I have also made other sales totaling just over $100

Now not the best I know but better than a kick in the teeth.

Why do I say with a potential of $350? Well this is down to it being a membership with a 14 trial.

Now I know not all will stick and I will have people that do not stay the course of the trial although I have had a couple of them pay already so good so far. Even if they do stay after the trial there is also a chance they might not continue after the first month.

In getting these first signups it has done one thing for me, and that thing is the best thing in the world, it has given me even more BELIEF. I new it could be done but now I have the proof of that and I am going to step it up and build on it.

As I said I have had two pay already with the $1 trial plus first month totaling $98.50 so not only has this month been good it has shown that the comming months will be even better.

The reason I have put that goal in my post today is now that you have seen it to I can not slack on it. If I had just written it down on paper then I would probably slack off a bit too much and never make it happen. I work much better to dead lines and tent to put things off til the last minute so I would also like to put the month in which it is going to happen but that might be pushing my luck as I have only really just started his course.

I might get brave and edit at a later date and put it in 

Now don’t get me wrong I know it is not going to happen just like that and if you think it will for you then you best get back to the drawing board or get out of the business. As that is what it is, a business, if you treat it as anything else you will fail. That is something that Alex Jeffreys first instilled in us,  it is going to take hard work to get where you and I want to be but it can be done and I will be your proof of that.

In the last two months I have also seen my Alex Page Rank go down from 585,587 to where it stands as I write this at 153,423 although this might not mean much to some of you, to have my site ranked at 153,423 out of all the websites in the world is quite a big thing don’t you think? I do. I have had an extra two thousand visiters this month than my normal visiter numbers so I must be dong something right.

I have also grown my email list from 457 to 950 since the start of November

Anyway just wanted to let you know how I have been doing and also to wish you all a very happy new year. Make it the best you can.

So I have finally got myself a mentor, Alex Jeffreys.

If you don’t know who Alex is then just Google his name there is plenty of results about him. All good I might add

Now I would just like to put down the date 9/12/2009 or for those overseas 12/09/2009.

Now the reason for putting the date down is simple. In the future when I look back on that date I will know that is the date when my life took a turn for the better, and where my success started from.

Big words you might say and I, would have to agree with you but the thing is that I was lucky enough to win Alex’s blog competition and get a free place in his coaching program.

This means two thing.

1. I now have a great mentor that has been there and done it and also many of his previous students have quit there jobs for a life of successful internet marketing. A mentor that unlike many others is still in touch with people like you and me he knows where he started at and he knows what it is like to struggle.

2. For me winning a place means that I have to do it to prove that he chose well, if I had paid for his coaching and I did not succeed then I would only be letting myself down. But the fact that he chose me means that I would be letting him down also and that is not something I am prepared to do.

So keep an eye out for me as 2010 is going to be my time to shine ( I have already told one of his most successful students, Dean Holland to get outta my way and stand aside on Skype as it’s my time now)

Anyway what I have already learnt is that.

I need to set goals, the reason for setting myself a goal is so simple yet I never thought like this. Without a goal I cannot create a plan to reach that goal and without a plan I am doomed to fail. I have been dithering around for so long just doing this and that and trying my best to get by. But I have already set some goals in fact three types of plans with different  goals. Business, Entrepreneur and Personal.

You see now I have my end goal in site I just need to plan backwards from there to reach that target, sounds strange but the way Alex laid it out it all makes sense.

Personal goals. This is up to you, what is it that you want? for me the first thing I put down was a family holiday to Florida. My old man lives out there and with a family of three to fly that’s going to be a bit expensive, make the next trip to Vegas (if Alex does do another one), new TV for the playroom, a new laptop and a new car as I’m sure the family car is going to fall apart soon. Now I have these goals in site I have something to aim for and that will make me work much harder for them.

Business goals. Find out what you want online. What niche are you going for?  I know there are a lot to choose from but find your angle and stick to it. there is no point in building a list of people interested in building a business on eBay if you are going to market Adwords courses to them. Now I can’t help you with choosing your niche you will find out for yourself what you feel more passionate about and when you find it, stick with it. create a blog like this perhaps or a membership site.

Entrepreneur goals. For me these are goals of skills I need to learn to make my business and therefore my personal goals happen. Things like copywriting and making better video’s (hell did you see the video in my last post, I think I need to learn that first)

Now at the moment I have these plans on paper but there is a great mind mapping tool at http://www.mindmeister.com/ that I am going to be trying out.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, if you don’t have a plan take some time out to start one now.

It does not have to be the grand master plan as these plans can and probably will change, you never know what is around the corner but by making a plan you can be half way to guessing.
