Twitter Traffic – Is It Really Effective?
ByGenerating twitter traffic can be worth it if done, like most things the right way.
I saw a blog post a couple of weeks ago asking the same sort of thing and my reply was along the lines of, from Alex Jeffreys on twitter I found Dean Holland from Dean on Twitter I found Marcus Passey from Marcus on Twitter I found Sean Beardmore and from a comment you made on Seans blog I found your site so yes Twitter traffic is affective although in my case it was kind of a long way round.
Now I‘ll be honest and as I say it was along those lines but not exactly in those words but I ‘m sure that you can see Twitter traffic can be really affective depending on who is following you and who you follow. Hell my followers jumped up the other week after I had sent a reply to a Tweet from Harris Fellman. He sent one back and of course my name was there to see for all his followers.
Also if you follow to people like I did such as Alex Jeffreys, Mike Filsaime, Brad Fallon, Gary Ambrose, Jason James, and other top marketers. Go through the lists of who they follow, chances are that they are worth a follow too. Now here’s the best bit, when or I should say if these top guys and gals follow you back and other people are doing as above and looking into their follow list, your name will be up there for all to see and from that you will end up with a quite a well targeted Twitter following. As long as you stick within you area of interest of course.
Twitter is not about gaining as many followers as you can and then spamming them as much as you can. Far from it my use of Twitter is about finding people who share an interest and possibly build up working relationships with these people. If you get to know the right people, who knows what could happen. Need JV partners, if you have been doing it right you already have a list of possible JV partners sitting there in you follow list.
Build up relationships by keeping up your tweets, get involved, if someone you follow asks a question, send an answer. Get involved and get noticed
I see lately more and more people using sites that send Tweets for you at set times. I am not against this but what I see is the same Tweet day after day after day. Not good.
Do this and I like others I have asked hit the Remove link.

Hey James,
Great post. I agree about the resending of tweets. I get frustrated when I see the same tweets day after day. Twitter is for building relationships and all that does is keep your name in front of people. It’s not building a relationship at all.
I have met some great people on Twitter. Heck, I found out about Alex Jeffreys because someone tweeted about him on Twitter. It really can be a great tool. People just need to learn to use it correctly.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for popping over, I too have built some great relationships through Twitter.
I saw another great post yesterday about people who auto follow too, that’s just following for the sake of following. I tend to check out the persons last few tweets to see if there is anything that is going to interest me before I follow someone.
If the last tweet was “get 400 followers a day” then I tend not to follow. although I’ll be honest and say I did use one of those kind of sites for my first week. Ooops

Hi James,
Hope your well!
Hey, I was going to write about this the other today, but it was going to be a bit more of a rant!
I agree with all of your points (and thx for the mention BTW) but I’ll tell you what is driving me nuts at the moment, and that is the guys adding 4 or 5 tweet profiles, then adding an affiliate link!
And another thing, those profiles who just pimp their S*** all day long, and use a profile photo of a glam model
They’re a NO Follow!
Good post James

Hey James,
You raise some good points here, I have just been following anyone who follows me, then if I find them too spammy then I hit the block button.
But I agree that the more targeted your following , the better. I’ve been grouping the people that I want to really follow in TweetDeck, so it works out OK for me.
Overall I think Twitter traffic is pretty effective in my experience.
Take care,
Paul.

I need to email you about something thats bugging me actually
Paul, You know what? I have been looking at that title and thinking somethings not right there. I think my next post is going to be. How to create traffic with misspelt words, as this has been going great for traffic. Think I’ll have to keep it like that now. lol I have not really got into TweetDeck I suppose it’s because I getting hooked on Twitter and I am on there most nights so I can keep an eye on things anyway.
But I have found it to be EFFECTIVE.

James,
Thanks for the twitter tips. Personally, have been having a hard time weeding out the spammers on my followers list.
But as you say, its a great place to meet new people and find a couple future JV partners all around the world.
Got to spend more time doing just that.
thanks,
Rob

Hi James
I agreed with what your saying. I use Twitter to build relationships with like minded people and to share valuable information that I think will benefit people. I am also using Tweet Deck for grouping people, like friends and people that I really want to keep in touch with and read their tweets.

Hey Brad,
Twitter does have a lot of spam but as soon as you see it just unfollow them.
The value you get is from the relationships you can build if you do it right. I have met a lot of great people on Twitter and found some useful help also as you can see in the blog post of mine.
http://www.inyourfacewisdom.com/deanholland/overcome-writers-block/
It really depends on what you want from it the people I have met are like minded people who are into internet marketing but not in a spam way, I got to know a few of the people on Alex Jefreys course from there and often visit their blogs as they do mine.
I would say that’s valuable traffic and it’s a great way to meet future JV partners.
Just my take on it of course,
James

I couldn’t have said it better myself James…
Providing value on Twitter (or anywhere else) pays back to you way more than spamming, plus you can proudly look at yourself in the mirror.
